Start saving your aluminum cans OBE! On October 1st, we're launching our Million (Aluminum) Cans Recycling Contest. We're one of only a handful of schools in the state of Florida participating. Every can helps support our school and helps the Earth. Rinse, crunch, and collect. We can't wait to see what our students can do!

Introducing a new club at OBE! We will be having an interest meeting on September 30th. The first meeting will be on October 28th and future meetings will be planned for the 4th Tuesday of the month after that. We are also looking for parent volunteers to join us. Volunteer must have a volunteer application on file. Permission slips and sign-outs went home last week. If you missed yours, please reach out to your child's teacher. All volunteers will need to attend and learn about school's code of conduct, policies, and procedures addressed by Administration and Guidance. PTO leadership will be there to present volunteer opportunities and current committee chair needs. Light breakfast spread will be provided. Join us at Community Life Church on August 28th from 6-8pm for Playing it Safe: Exposing Dangers in our Digital World. This is a parent only event. RSVP is encouraged, but not required.

The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) and STAR Assessments are progress monitoring tests administered three times per year to track your student’s progress in learning the Benchmarks of Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards throughout this school year. The purpose of this letter is to inform you that your student will participate in the first administration (PM1) of the Grade K-5 Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST/STAR) ELA Reading and Mathematics assessments on:

STAR (FAST) Assessments:
Second Grade: Aug. 21st – 22nd (STAR Reading and Math Assessments)
First Grade: Aug. 26th – 27th (STAR Reading/STAR Early Literacy and Math Assessments)
Kindergarten: Sometime between Aug. 20th – Sept. 30th. Your student’s teacher will communicate their testing dates with you.

Progress Learning – 5th Science:
Fifth Grade: Aug. 28th

FAST Assessments:
Third Grade: Sept. 4th (ELA) – 5th (Math)
Fourth Grade: Sept. 8th (ELA) – 9th (Math)
Fifth Grade: Sept. 10th (ELA) & 11th (Math)

Your student’s results from PM1 are for informational purposes only, and you will be provided with information about how to access the results after testing is completed.
